Rooster Time

Rooster Time is at end of the day.  It is an actual class and not a study hall.  The focus in RT is reading and we also focus on other areas that students are needing a little extra practice to succeed in their studies.

Two days a week (Monday and Tuesday), our class will be reading in small groups to enhance some reading skills and develop comprehension strategies for students to use.

Two days a week (Wed. and Thursday), we will have a time that students focus on Math or English Language Arts (ELA).  These will be fluid groups and we will be changing the focus all the time.  That way if your child needs some help in Math at the time, they will be working on the focus days in that area.  After they master that skill they will be moved to another group.  They may also be assigned some extra practice in an area in order to develop a skill they already have, but master it on a different level.

At 3:00, students will have some time to work on class work.  We call this SOS because they can get help from a teacher and ask them questions they may have.  For instance, if they are having problems in Math, they may go see Mrs. Griffith.  We believe this will help students succeed in their studies.

Please do not take your child out of school early, unless it is absolutely necessary,  because they will have work to make up.  We will be working until school is over.
